Ok folks, time for me to ask for help. Here's the short story. It was sitting for some (long) time, and didn't want to start, so here is what I've done so far.
new spark plug, drained & completely cleaned gas tank, removed, fudisassembled, cleaned, and reinstalled carb, replaced air filter, replaced battery, replaced fuel lines, added inline fuel filter, changed oil in engine and both diff. units, and cleaned all wiring connections, all seemed good. Now the problem, it would turn over great, but not fire over and over again. I checked everything I could think of, it had air, fuel, and plug was firing. Then after some playing it got where it would fire but not start. I got mad so I put it up. Thena week later I pulled it out, tried it, and it started, and ran good. Then after about ten minutes it died and wouldn't restart. Again it turned and fired, but no start. I let it sit for about 30 min and it fired right up, so my son took it for a "test" drive. After about 1-2 miles it died and wouldn't start again. This went on for about a week, then a friend suggested a hotter plug. It calls for an NGK D8EA, so I put an NGK D7EA, and it worked great. Fired right up, and runs better, but still dies after just a short time. PLEASE HELP!! |

Is it fouling the plug? or is it just losing spark?
It does seem a little fouled, but not totally. As first I thought that was the problem, so i would pull the plug and clean it or swap it with another plug, but I have found that that's not the problem. I don't touch the plug, and it still restarts at a later time. |

did you clean the petcock out...may be slow fuel delivery to carb
oh yes, I completely cleaned the petcock. One thing I have found is when it dies and I look at the fuel filter, there is no fuel in it, like it has a vapor block stopping the flow, however, when I pull the hose off the carb, the fuel flows freely. |

try opening the fuel bowl drain while the fuel line is connected to carb and fuel on,
the fuel bowl drain is located on the bottoom of da carb and takes a phillips head screw driver to open.this will tell you if you have flow gettin into the carb. if nothing is comeing out then the float needle is stickin shut or adjusted wrong.try to lightly tap on the fuel bowl whil that screw is open and see if fuel starts to flow.if it doesent then a carb opening will be needed to figure out y the float is sitckin shut. also try this while inspecting for no fuel flow when screw is open.take the gas cap off.may have a bad vent on the tank cap. hope this helps out -corey- |
