Default Mule 3010 Idle Issues

Just picked up a '05 Mule 3010 (gas) with a bit under 100 hours.

Since it was never driven and sat in the guys garage and idled pretty crappy, I replaced the Oil & filter, gas filter, plugs. Air filter was fine so I left it. Removed gas tank, drained/flushed tank and replaced.

I replaced the oil with Valvoline 10w40 made for 4 strokes. Wix oil and gas filters, NGK BPR2ES plugs.

Start it up with full choke and it runs great, gradually push choke in and it idles crappy. I raised the idle screw at the carb and it runs much better, but then it grinds going into gear. Back it off enough to stop the grind and it idles crappy or stalls out. It also has a slight hesitation/stutter off idle when pressing the pedal quickly.

Idle screw on governor it set so that it just touches the arm at idle.

Had it where it idled pretty good and shut it off. Went to start it a little while later and it stalls right out

This is starting to drive me batty.

I am leaning towards there being crap in the carb.

I see a lot of post regarding the carb jets getting crud on them and causing run issues and I think that is probably what is wrong here.

When you remove the carb and disassemble, clean, reassemble , do you need to replace any gaskets or are there none? If there are, is there a gasket set available from my local dealer?

If anyone has any ideas, please chime in.

DINGiiiiiiiiiiiiDONG((((((((((((DING)))))))))))

I think that there isn't such a thing available as a kit. The parts diagram shows the indivigual parts seperately. If the Mule can stand to be out of service I would check the repair manual remove the carb and air chamber, check out the parts you will need and order them online from one of our vendors at the top of the page, I have had good results geting what I needed.

I took the carb off, cleaned, replaced. It now idles fine, but has a "surge" or "hesitation" when stepping on the gas.

I need to know if this is normal due to no accelerator pump in the carb or if it is an issue.

Also have not yet adjusted valves and I suspect they have not ever been adjusted by the PO.

That's an interesting thought. I will loosen the governor clamp to let is slip around the shaft and see what happens.

Also, Still looking to find out if other gas Mule owners have this issue.

My 3010 4x4 E4 Mule and the other mules (a 2510) around here are all I really know about and neither of them have that problem, not to say that they don't have problems ftrom time to time. I would be more concerned with the springs on top of the engine and if one of the cables or linkage needs cleaned and lubed, than loosening the clamp on the shaft. Just my opinion. The belt drive on the Mule is kinda strange to me and seems to work different than other drive systems.
