610 Mule Need Help !!!

Hi, we have a 2007 kaw 610 mule purchased new (0 hours)(now 150 hours) from our local dealer. great machine and has run excellent for the last 2 years. One morning about a month ago it had a hard time starting. It usually starts right away and w/out the use of the choke. I got is started after several tries and it ran ok. It seemed to be short on power? We drove it down our drive way (a mile or so) and turned it off. We tried to start it and it wouldnt start. Towed it to our garage. I thought it may be a fuel issue so i changed the fuel filter out. Still did not start. Has plenty of fuel. I read on the forum some time back it could be a coil or ? We really need to get this thing up and running.

I would seriously recommend you pick up the service and repair manual and follow the diagnostic procedures.

Generally speaking the coils do not just fail. I would suspect the carburetor is plugged from varnish based on the low number of hours in two years of use unless you have been using a good fuel stabilizer.

It is going to take some step by step inspection and testing on your part to narrow the problem area.

What ever you do, do not pull the spark plug wire and crank the engine over. That destroys the CDI and coil pretty quickly from supersaturation and no where to discharge the stored energy, and ends up masking the real problem with problems created by accident, and can get quite expensive.
