Default 2001 Kawasaki 400 prairie 4x4 Making noise

I have a 2001 kawasaki 400 4x4 that the last 2 times I have rode it is making a noise right below the oil tank in the drive line, Sounds like the driveline is rubbing. Any ideas.

Oil tank? A Prairie 400 doesn't have an external oil reservoir. Where are you talking about?

Down below where you put the oil in. It's comming from the driveline.

You could have bad rear-end bearings. You could have a bad thrust washer in the final drive case. You could have bad swing arm bearings letting the swing arm shift side to side and the u-joint hit the swingarm tube.

Without inspection it's difficult to diagnose or even fathom...

Found out the problem. It was the nut on each side of the swingarms that had come off and allowed the rearend to move over letting the driveline rub on the tube. Got 2 new nuts and everything is fine.

Excellent outcome! When I went to replace my swing arm bearings it turned into a complete rear-end rebuild
