Which model and year?
Although if it is not turning the rear axle when in two wheel drive, but works in four wheel drive, I would tend to believe the rear differential section of the transaxle is the problem.
If toys will get me in the door when it is time to go, I have it made!
Sorry,I think it't a 2004,It is a 3010 and should have said it doesn't have rear wheel drive when in 4wd or 2wd,the rear axle doesn't move,Thanks
I would jack it up so it was secure and all four wheels were off the ground. Then remove the drive belt so there is no drag on the transmission. Put it in two wheel drive.
Then I would find a helper and turn both rear tires in the same direction. Then lock the differential lock and try it again. Then try turning once wheel backwards and the other forward with the differential locked. Keep the engine off.
If you get a click when turning one wheel forward and the other backwards it will be likely you have a broken axle. If you get grinding and gear rake noise it will be time to tear down the transmission section and repair the differential.
