what is the oil caacity for a 3010 mule, and what weight oil is recommended? Also what is the vin location on a 550 mule? Thank You.

For the 3010 the engine oil is SAE 10W40, API SF or SG; API SH of SJ with JASO MA Class. Capacity 1.8 L (1.9 qt.)
Or, just buy Shell Rotella® T Synthetic 5W-40 at WalMart. The synthetic oil has better film strength and makes the engine live longer.
Depending on the age of the 550 the VIN will either be below the seat cushion on the front support rail, or down on the side of the machine. Parts are all the same from 97 through 2004 for major assemblies. The problem area will be the clutch assemblies, and just toss the old ones and use the new version for reliability.
The 550 is model Mule for which it is very critical that clean high quality oil is used and changed frequently, as the crankshaft is counter-weighted by a separate weight that bounces up and down in the oil pan on two separate thin connecting rods. If the oil is allowed to run dirty or thins out from age it chews up the crank and ruins the engine. Keep it serviced and it will run just about forever.
If toys will get me in the door when it is time to go, I have it made!
thanks for the info. It appears I put a little too much in. I will recheck.
