Default 550 mule

i recently purchased a 550 mule with only 13 hours on it. it probably still had the original gas in it(11/2 - 2 years). i cleaned out the carb pretty well but when i tried to go up a steep cement path in the mountains it would not make it, the belt started slipping and the mule just stopped. an identical 550 mule had no problems. it seemed to lack power so i am going to try rebuilding the carb and do more cleaning(soaking the carg in laquer thinner). does any body have any other thoughts on the matter

Sounds to me like the belt needs to be replaced or adjusted. Get yourself a manual.
