Running lean is probably not being caused by a "broken" carb. It is just out of adjustment. Search on how to set the pilot air screw and needle.

the 4 wheeler is still running at high rpm's and getting hot the other day i was going uphill and i had to down shift and it was at the high rpm's so i shifted down not thinking and it rolled back on me. im fine just bruised my thigh. but what could be causing this? the adjustment helped a little bit.

hello .sorry to hear you took a spill but glad your ok.

now to your high idle problem have youe checked the trootle cable for being sticky and hangin the throotle open a bit.

also i think your style carb is a slide bore(meanin you have a cylinder that slides up and down in the carb that is hooked to the throotle cable) there is a needle that sets in there with a circlip on it and 5 grooves also.make sure that circlip is in the middle and not at its lowest groove towards the point of the needle,if it is set there that would explain why its runnin lean and hot and high idle.that needle controls fuel to air mix the farther up the circlip goes the richer in fuel it gets, the lower it goes the leaner it gets due to the needle is father away from the main jet .er something like that. just a thought that and also take sum carb cleaner and spray around the carb and the carb intake to see if you have a vacuum leak at the intake or the carb.carb cleaner being spray while the motor is runnin will change idle if it has a leak and if it does change then repair as needed.hope this may help out -corey-

I just bought one from some fella, he didn't know the year or sn# so I have to start looking on this to find out the numbers and year. I do my own work on these things and on my bike. Do you have any idea where I can find out the year and SN#?
I am looking forward to cleaning it up abit and getting it to where I want it.

Mine is on the left side bottom frame rail, below the engine in front of the foot peg.

Anyway I just found out my oil sight glass got broken. Stupid stick poked through the peg wire and then wedged up against the glass. I wonder how hard this is going to be to replace.

Question the seat on my 220

Now how do I get the seat off to put a battery in it. it does run good though. I had a susuki 230 before and sold that because I wanted something for deer hunting and to use for trappind season. I love this 220, I am having a clymers book mailed to me for working on it but in the meantime I want to get the seat off to install battery, any help is greatly appreciated

there should be a rod sticcking out of the back with a loop on it just pull that and lift up the seat.

whiteboi did you find anything on your machineyet?

and mr gigles that sight glass i think is replaceable but have to pull the side cover off i think it has like a spring clip holdin it in.after you replace that make a shield to cover the sight glass so them darn sticks dont break it again.i think you can use a piece of 20 awg sheet metal and use a couple of your case bolts to hold it up and in there tight -corey-

It doesn't leak when it sits, I am also not worrying about it now as I have moved on to a much bigger project. Last week I bought a 1982 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo Diesel for 300.00. Had an engine knock and I am in the process of removing the motor and seeing whats wrong. So far I know that one rod bearing is spun at the least. Would make a hell of a first car if I ever get it going.

well a benz huh nice.take the bottom end to a engine shop and have them redo the crank and rods for you.have them turn the crank and put the bearings in for you.and have the pistons line honed and new bearings.itll prolly cost around 350 -500 to do this.jsut give em the block assy with out the head they will dip the block clean and hook it up so itll last longer than the body will....good luck on that big ole repair i hated benzs when i worked on them but they are a strong ole car for a first time car-corey-

Today I will probably be finished removing parts to get the motor out, then I have to locate an engine hoist. After I get it out I will have a look at it and see what is wrong and how bad it is.

only problem we had was a broken reverse switch(easy fix!)

Since you are a Bayou 220 owner like myself maybe you can help me. The rear end went in my Bayou 220, but I have parts including a rear end from a Bayou 185, would it fit in the 220?.

Default 220 bayou question ?

Hello all first post here, I am trading electrical work for a bayou 220 however this unit has sat for some time. Today I went to see if the ol gal had compression which she did. I proceeded to throw the jumper cablesa on and itfired right up. i did notice after turnung it off gas was leaking from a hose under the the bike. could this be a float issue? any opinions would be greatly appreciated thanks

The needle valve has something in it that is causing it to stick open and have gas come out of the overflow tube. Take the carb apart and clean it. If it has been sitting for some time it probably needs it anyway. You can have it apart and cleaned in an hour no problem.
