Bayou 300 weak spark

Does anyone know how to tell what year a Bayou 300 is? I just bought it and don't know what year it is. Also when I try to start it. it has a strong spark for an instant and then weak spark as it turns over. It won't start. It just occasionally pops like it's trying to start. using a shot of ether in the carb is no help.

it will be the 10 digit in the VIN, which is stamped into the left hand frame under and infront of the left footrest, if it is a number such as a 1 i.e. as far as a weak spark, chect the connection of the 12 wires at the coil or you might have a sparkbox becoming weak
VIN Code Year Information

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is stamped into the frame's head tube, which is located behind the headlight / front numberplate. The VIN code is 17 digits long. The tenth digit indicates the year model. To help prevent confusion, a few letters are not used. For example, is that the letter "I" or the number "1"? Below is a list of letters and numbers and the matching year:

A = 1980
B = 1981
C = 1982
D = 1983
E = 1984
F = 1985
G = 1986
H = 1987
J = 1988
K = 1989
L = 1990
M = 1991
N = 1992
P = 1993
R = 1994
S = 1995
T = 1996
V = 1997
W = 1998
X = 1999
Y = 2000
1 = 2001
2 = 2002
3 = 2003
4 = 2004
5 = 2005
6 = 2006
7 = 2007
8 = 2008
9 = 2009
The list then repeats with A = 2010 and so on.
