Do you mean a relay or a selanoid? It is definately not a selanoid, the wires are too small and they. It kind of looks like a fuse(I dont know that it is though). Where do the wires lead to?

Yes it is the starter relay, the greenish wire is neut. switch 12 v. and the brown is ign. 12 v. one blk is starter button and other is starter solinoid.

I don't mean to thread jack, but how would I go about wiring up a new non-OEM starter relay utilizing the stock switch? I tried just bypassing it, but then I got no spark, the stock wiring is pretty trashed, and I don't know where to start. I already have the relay wired up, all it needs is a switch and battery.

Does this relay actually connect right to the starter?

What excactly do you need ? If you allready have a relay wired in

"Does this relay actually connect right to the starter?" No not directly to the starter but it does to the solinoid

What I need to find out is what wires I need to use to activate the starting relay, the relay need to have a 12v input to switch on. What colors are the wires that connect to the stock solenoid? What is the voltage on the wire?

The relay is primarily there for safty reasons. you must have it in neut. to start. The brown wire (ign 12 v.). the green wire activates the relay when the trans is (neut switch) in neutral, which allows current to go from the start button to the solinoid. Other small wire on the sol. grnds. out allowing current to flow across the bat/starter wires.

I understand what you mean, but with how sensitive and expensive the ignition system is on this thing I would like to bypass the stock wiring as much as possible.

With how sensitive and expensive the ignition system is that is not a good idea. What I would do is repair as much of the stock wiring as possible. Most all of it is 14,16,&18 ga. wire, cut out the bad section and solder a new in w/ a piece shrink wrap.

It will still be cheaper than replacing some of that high dollar ign.....and you get good clean wire and connections.
