'03 Prarie 650 Backfire

My '03 Prarie 650 battery went dead the other day when my son left the key on. I had to jump it with the battery charger to get it going. It's still weak but will start it. Evey since that happened it backfires and won't go over 8 mph. I need any advice that's out there. I drained the fuel, changed the spark plugs and checked the air filter. I'm lost now!! HELP!!!

is the belt light on and what does the display say? Sounds like its in limp mode and theres a way to reset that - check your book

I have a 360 and theres a method to clear any belt faults

How many hours should a belt last under normal use? The belt light came on at 100 hours and i never reset it. Now it has 184 hours on it. The dealer is telling me the belt needs to be adjusted or replaced. What's your opinion?

The only lights on are the belt light.

my opinion is reset the belt light, it should make it go fast again, if the belt light comes on yet again in very short time, then go get it checked out

I know how to do it on my 360, the 650 may be different

if youre going to do your own work i would go get a manual, about 40-60 bux from the dealer

OR ask the dealer how to clear the light

on MINE: theres two plugs, one is black other is white, you ign off and swap them, then ign on - light blinks 7 times, then ign off and put it back then run as normal

something like that anyway - im going from memory
