Default Neutral Saftey Switch

Hello all; My question is on my boys kawasaki 185 atv, I think the year is a 1987 2 wheel drive. The electric start has allways worked, but now nothing. I think it is the neutral safty switch, I put in a new battery when I turn the key on I can hear the fuel pump clicking then stops when pressure is reached. I put it in neutral and I cant get the neutral light to come on, I giggle the shift lever but no light, I can start it with the pull cord, the reverse light comes on when in reverse, I also checked the bulb with a tester and its fine. Headlight works fine, on and off switch works cause I can shut it off when running. Is there such a thing as a neutral switch on this machine? if so where is it at, maybe I have a loose wire or a bad conection on it. Thanks

Do you hear a click sound when you hit the starter button?

Default Neutral switch

No there is no clicking at all. I hear fuel pump building pressure then shots off, when I hit the starter button nothing at all. I jumped the selanoid the starter takes reght off. I think there must be a neutral safty switch because last year it wouldn't start if it was in gear or if the neutral light wasn't on. I can not get the neutral light to turn on no matter how mush I giggle the shift lever, I just don't know where it would be located. Thanks

Default Neutral Switch

This must have been a real tricky problem, seeing all the feedback I've received, I've ordered an actual shop manual, so hopefully if someone has a related problem I'll try and help. I do know how to trace down electrical problems, I just thought this would be a quick fix. The manual should come in handy for other problems that might arrise and to help others. Thanks
