Unhappy Choked to death Bayou

I have a '94 Bayou 300 that absolutely will not start if the choke is used at all, no matter what the temperature is. I have to pull the spark plug and "air out" the cylinder before I can get it to start. I bought it from a friend who gave me this instruction: "Don't ever, and I mean ever, use the choke. You'll never get it to start if you do!" Any comments on what, if anything, I should do?

Well, it is definately getting too much gas. I would suggest adjusting the fuel screw leaner(in) 1/8 of a turn at a time to clean things up.

I forgot to mention that the previous owner took it in to the dealer every year for a checkout and tuneup.

Check the choke circuit in the carb. If it uses a richening system, something is leaking or stuck open. If a butterfly valve at the carb opening, it's stuck shut. Grease your cable if you got one.

Well, if it gets worse when you turn the choke on, that probably isnt the problem. And a butterfly valve deffinately isnt stuck, because the bike runs fine above idle.

It could also be that the float needle isnt completly sealing, and when it sits, it slowly overflows and fills the cylinder up with fuel.
