Default Gas Tank

hey guys i have a quick question about the gas tank on an 87 bayou 300. it has a metal tank with several holes in it and i have done the tank creme on it and the coating rusted off!! $50 down the drain. anyways i just need to know if any other model of bayou gas tanks fit the 87 300. preferably one with a plastic tank. any help is appreciated. also if there is a way for me to separate the two tank halves with out damaging them i could patch the tank and clean it out and have it re welded.

thanks

SEAN

hello i have an 86 bayou and had hole in mine also what i did to fix mine was clean it out good cleaned the holes free of rust and filled it up half way with water and brazed the hole in water is so it dont ignite any fumes left in tank.and trhen i coted the tank welds with j-b weld just as an extra precaution then i drain the water took denatured alcohol and rinse the tank out let dry for 1 day then i took fibre glass resin with harder and dumped in to tank swirled it around and dumped out the residule and let dry for 2 days but make sure the petcock is off and taped off so you dont have a real big mess now the inside and out side of my tank is protected from rusting out ne more its been 2 years now and no problems it only cost me like 35 to 40 $ for the repairs take your tank to a radiator repair shop they will soilder it back up cheap i did it my self i have accetylene torchs and brazing rods.hope this save you some money and time -corey-

Most automotive radiator shops also do gas tank repair.

yea lol that would probably be a good idea, on the other hand, it is hard to get it going without a clean source of fuel.

Has anyone gotten the newer model tanks to fit on an 86-88 bayou 300?
