Default Bayou 300 - Charging System Question

I have a 1995 Bayou 300 4x4. The charging system seems to be delivering too much voltage and causing the battery to boil over. I put a volt-meter on my battery terminals when the quad was running and got about 16.5v at idle and around 17.4v when revved up. According to the Haynes manual the maximum voltage here should be 15.0v.

I'm thinking that I need a new voltage regulator/rectifier. Has anyone here encountered a similar problem? Does this diagnosis sound correct, or could something else be causing this problem?

Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If the battery is partially sulphated it will cause the charging system to charge up over 18 volts, and boil the water out of the battery. So make sure you have a good battery before replacing the regulator or the problem will still be there $120 later.

Thanks for the tip about the di-electric grease. That's a good idea and one I'm going to follow up on.
