Usually the problem is the electric actuator for the front drive. Nearly always is is that the electric wires have broken or the connector unplugged by being snagged on mud or sticks.

I did check the actuator's resistence and all of them are onthe right range. Do you know other way to check it?

Short of removing and manually shifting the actuator, what you did is what is normally done.

You may need to troubleshoot the electrical circuits all the way back to the switch. Make sure the switch is actually switching the circuit, if not then you will need to check the relays, the connectors, and the grounds. If you ride in water or mud it can be as simple as corroded connectors that need to be isolated, cleaned, coated with dielectric grease and reinstalled.

If the problem is in the ECM you will need the KDS tool to diagnose the fault codes. They are covered in the repair manual, and the KDS software and cable are available from your dealer. The repair manual will tell you which version you need.

I have checked, cleaned and greased all the connections under the seat. I checked the switch and there is no sign of water or mud. when I checked the voltage by the control unit on one position is good but when I switch it. I don't get the voltage that i should be getting.

I would check the switch and work out from there. If the master control unit is out, it will throw a code that the dealer can read. You can jump the diagnostic port and get the codes to blink, but I prefer to use the tool and avoid frying the ECM.

excuse my lack of knowlage but how do you check the switch since there are only 2 wires. Does one of them has power?

Yes, there is power to the actuator. You have to be very careful to follow the diagnostic steps outlined in the service manual or you can fry your ECM and be in for tall dollars.

I have checked the resistence on the actuator and they look OK but I don't know if there is other way to check it. I have checked, cleaned and greased all the connections but I really can not make the indicator to switch from 2wd to 4wd. I think my next step is to change the ECM (something I did not want to do $$$$$$$$)

have you tried diconnecting the battery both terminals and then touch the 2 cables together away from the battery and what that does is rebots the ecm sumtimes like in cars the computer freezes up and will not let stuff work properly then after you touch the 2 cables together away from teh battery hook the poz back up first and then ground and see if it starts acting right thats all i got on this issue is the computer freezes up -corey-
