`06 Brute Force - Belt/light

I was winching out a friend stuck in the mud yesterday and using reverse plus the winch and smoke started to come out of the back end. Then this rapping noise came when ever I stayed under 15 mph's or just idled. Finally the belt light came on and the machine stopped dead.

any idea's, thoughts, common occurrence?

broken belt? clutch shot?

Sounds like you had better pull the belt cover and take a look.
