Default I Need Help With a 1985 kaw 185 bayou

I just Had the motor rebuilt in this machine but i just dont get spark. I checked I am getting power all the way to my CDI box but after that power getts really weak from that and it doesnt send power to the coil. So if any one can tell me what the resistance is suppose to be on the CDI i would be very grateful. And if any one has an idea what it could be wrong please tell me i will try all that i can.

You do not just go after the CDI with a multimeter with it still installed on the Bayou with the battery installed or you will damage the unit. The service and repair manual gives you instructions for which terminals are checked after it is removed, and the values. You also need a high quality non-inductive and low voltage meter such as a high end Fluke or Kawasaki's specialized meter to check the box without creating damage. A battery powered Radio Shack or Harbor Freight special will fry the box in an instant.

Frankly, it is more practical to take the Igniter (CDI) to a dealer and have it checked.

The CDI box will not send power to the coil without the corresponding pulse from the pulsing coil, so testing is done with the devices removed and on the bench.

I also suspect you are looking in the wrong area, unless you fried the Igniter. I recommend you pull the pulsing coil, the Igniter, and the ignition coil and have them all checked. It is likely the pulsing coil is bad.
