Default valve on prairie green team 700

hi i have ajusting the valve clearance on my bike (prairie 700 2006) the problem is i can't fix the clearance like the bike book tell me to fix it is suppose to be .010 for intake and .020 for exaust whit this clearance the valve snap, i have fix at .006 for intake and .010 for exaust and the bike run verry good like that, the tf and tr mark was in good position when i have made it if some one can tell me why i have to reduce the clearance to have no valve snap thanks

Be sure you are using a metric feeler gauge, the intakes should be set between .10 and .15mm, not inches. This will likely solve your noise problem. If you use an inch based feeler they will rattle like rocks in a box.

The exhaust should be set between .20 and .25mm. If you ride hard or pull a load go with the looser of the settings on the exhaust valves. They tend to expand more with heat than the intake valves.
