I have an 08 bruteforce 750FI. Over the weekend we road 100 miles at the hatfield mccoy trails in west virginia. On a long decell with out the throttle pushed my bike would sometimes backfire and blowout a fireball from the muffler. Is there an update or something for the for the fuel mapping. Also any thoughts on a power commander usb, I know they offer a program for a stock bike with improved fuel control.

well dand no warranty lol,wel does it backfire while ridein around home or your local trail.i noticed on my bayou i had a corbra muffler and it also did this backfire form time to time after a hard ride changed the muffler to white brand muffler with baffle plates and i have not heard one peep out of it the cobra opens up a lot more when it gets warmer and then starts to scavage fuel and bang you got a little poof out the pipe, and also may want to change them plugs if allready havent i think they are only good for a couple hundred miles any ways....maybe next summer ill take that trip to mccoy do u have to have a sticker to ride on the trail i do not have the title to get this tag thing also do they have a camp site do you know.and hey i see you are form ohio where bouts i am in norwalk ohio.so ne waysmaybe get better aftermarket muffler that may help.....corey

Go to twinhollowcamgrounds.com they have cabins and campsites, you can access the trails right from the camp. Go to Hatfield-McCoy Trails Official Web Site- Home Page for info on the hatfield mccoy trails.

BruteForceRider I have a 07 BF 750i with almost a thousand miles now and whenever I trail ride and I am really on the throttle and decelerate rather quickly I will get a nice backfire. loud as hell but she only does it when she is warm and I am really on and off of it. No engine or exhaust mods so I was reasurred that it was not an issue but I figured an injected wheeler should not be backfiring like that. Let me know if you hear anything or a way to correct the issue. Thanks and good luck.

I just completed an installation of the Power Commander III and the ignition module for a friend. It stopped the over-fueling on idle, but took a call to their 800 number for assistance in picking the correct fuel map for the best performance. Once we nailed the right program it runs with way more power and snap, and zero backfiring.
The only downside is that the parts were right at $650 with the 15% discount we were able to get, so it is not an inexpensive fix. It also seems to be getting better fuel mileage with the low end rich condition corrected.

Does the performance seem alot better. I am not really interested in changing the pipe or air filter, they do offer a zero map. Does it help with the lean condition roasting your left leg? My brother owns a artic cat dealer and is a parts unlimited dealer so I can get a good price.

I never read your second question about burning your leg until today. I do not know if the PCIII it will help with your excessive heat problem. I recommend you call and talk to their technical people to to get an answer.
I do know that on the earlier carburetor equipped versions at 2500 feet of altitude that it is necessary to increase the main jets to 158 and pilot jets to a full size larger to stop the bogging and the subsequent lean high end problem that was spalling the electrofusion off the cylinder walls with heavy and fast mountain riding. The larger pilots also enable a better flow of fuel to cool the cylinders when you back out of it. I would think the PC folks have a map adjustment that does the same thing for hard riding with a stock exhaust. I rode the one I chipped for about two hours, and never noticed any particular heat issues with my leg. There was a huge difference in low end snap and the first third range of throttle performance, and a very significant drop in exhaust gas temperatures at full throttle with the Power Commander installed. The owner claims his fuel mileage has increased with the PC, but I also got him to start using LL100 from the airstrip instead of pump gas, so his observation on economy may not be accurate.
