Default Hp Mule Parts???

does anybody make/sell aftermarket stuff (exhaust, big bore/stroker kit, etc)to give the 610 more grunt, or am I going to have to do it myself (ie stick another motor in/whatever)?

and no, don't even think about recommending talking to my dealer (AV KAWASAKI), they couldn't even put on the accessories I've already installed...

Gentlemen I fell your pain on the mods however I feel the need after reading some posts by 610dog to offer some insight into the new and I repeat very new mule. The KAF400A1 or better known as the 610 4x4 by Kawasaki is a Utility vehicle and I hope your dealers told you that when they sold it to you. Kawasaki was the flag ship for the Mule Utility many years ago. It was designed to be a work horse and by no means a RV. They are 401cc belt driven Utility which is a huge improvment over the previous 550 model with 286cc. They are designed for light duty utility work such as around an apartment complex, construction sites, etc. The ATV saftey council has a reported 88 cases of accidents already with some of the Mule knock off's that insist on making it an RV at 40+ mph which is why you won't see Kawasaki go above 25mph. The accessories for the Mule 600 and 610 as well as the new 3010 Trans won't be available till late summer because it is a totally new design. All cab accessories are built by Curtis Tractor Cabs and the rest are developed by Kawasaki. Even though there are a few accessories that dealers know about even those are on back order right now.
Let me just add the belt squeal 610dog is hearing is most likely caused by the over sized tires and loads beyond the recommended limits, the cure is to adjust the belt deflection. As far as the alternator it sounds to me like the sound system you are running would require the Heavy duty alternator only available on the 3000 series and is stock on the 3010 diesel. I don't want to discourage you gentlemen however I think it is only fair to tell you that what you want this machine to do may turn out to be a disappointment for you.Don't forget some of those mods can void your 1 year warranty so be careful.

hey kawi,
thanks for your input...i will admit that this was an un-reasearched decision for me...i know the 610 is no speed demon..i'm trying to attain 30-35 tops on the flats...i'm very disappointed with the dealer..he is a kawi/yamaha dealer in pahrump,NV..i am 35 years old and i specifically explained my intentions for this vehicle.. i wanted something i could take my kids trail riding on and have some fun too...never a mention of a need for a work horse...he should have recommended a rhino but, he didn't have one in stock so he sold me the mule without mention of the rhino..i'm not going to bash my little buggy..i think the 610 is a pretty cool ride...it is fun and can climb through some pretty rough stuff..if i can get a little more speed for some of the long dirt trails i ride, i'll be happy...i jumped in without knowing what i was buying and what else was available....just trying to make the best of it...

Even though we don't show a speedo yet I am almost certain you will see one however the tach I am not sure of.

25's fit fine, no issues. wouldn't go larger w/out a lift kit and more power/different gearing though. in that regard, I did find out that (alledgedly), we can use the crank, rod piston, cam and head from a cousin 400cc kawi (forgot which model), but there's also a big bore kit that may work/be even better. haven't bothered w/it lately, as it seems ok, kinda... but a torque improving pipe would probably be a good start... now that the warrenty is up, as stuff blows/breaks I'll just upgrade to whatever makes sense at the time... been some good deals on kawi H2 motors lately, hehehe...

could just do some porting and mess w/the carb and ignition like you noted too, but I think more grunt would be best, and bigger ports/more revs will only help top end, so increased displacement seems to be the best way to go, on one of these IMO.

spedo?? I just read about someone that finally got one last month glad I didn't wait for the rest of the stuff and just had it fabbed up instead...

bout as maxed out as it can get w/out going nuts for one of these (rhinos do have a LOT more accessories for sure).

35mph was on a LONG flat, perhaps slight downhill w/a tailwind... larger tires and tweaking the govenor probably helped a tad too, but on any kind of uphill or against the wind run it's lucky to hit 25-30... seems fine for most of the riding I do, and like kawi noted, the "high speed" handling on these types of vehicles sucks - so I'd guess 35-40 is kinda pushing common sense anyway. wouldn't want to spill my beer

regards!
