    Default Elbows

Just made one of my favorite short day rides over to Zion's National Park. What a day. The only down side is that my elbows always start hurting after an hours ride. If I get off for a bit they stop until I get going again but I'm wondering if I need to bring the handlebars back closer or raise them a bit. I have looked at some riser but don't know if that is the solution.

Sounds to me like risers would help alot. Even though I am tall, I installed risers on my bike and it made a big difference with the "C" type handlebars, Better on the neck and arms.

I am 5'10" 170 and ride the Nomad. I take a lot of day and long trips. I have read about risers that raise the bars and others that raise the bars and bring them back closer to the rider. What size of riser did you install?

I am not a doc but it sounds like tennis elbow ha ha ha I know you dont play tennis .just take a couple of ace bandages along on your next ride when your elbow starts to hurt stop and put one on each elbow.try that if that works they sell a regular brace wallmart.

I have the Phatt II's. It would be great to get an extra inch or two back but that would require new bars. As it is I am very comfortable and usually ride with my palms off the bars. I do sit upright with little to no forward lean. I have done many three hour rides and have no desire for highway pegs. It is wonderful.

What size did you buy. I see that they come in all different lengths.

I have a similar problem! We have two things in common - I was born in '56 and I too play golf. What we suffer from is a susceptibility to golfers elbow (as opposed to tennis elbow) being the top of the elbow that hurts. It's a form of tendanitis that is actually caused by the flexing of the tendon running from the elbow joint to the fingers. Sorry for the medical lecture if you already know this but I'm also trying to get some more pullback on my Custom bars (without spoiling the lines of the bike) to ease the pain after a long ride.
I'm writing this with an elasticated support on my elbow which does help when riding but I'm told the only way to help it is to rest the arm for a week or so. Not gonna happen with the course drying out and my bike sat looking at me!
Ageing is a wonderful thing is'nt it

i had this problem to even tho i am young i have done contact sports my whole life and nhave bad joints for this reason i personaly put apes on my bike and it is the most comfortable thing in the world but with apes comes longer cables with longer cables comes internal wireing and it is all very time consuming i would sugest to look into something like a phatt II riser bring the bars up alil and see how you like it and if you dont go all the way and get some kong bars you will never regret it

4 to 6 inch pullback risers will solve your problem- plus they look great!
