I feel the same way, and it seems like any mirror you have to put an adapter on ends up too tall, why cant companys see a need for metric specific stuff and make it, I wouldnt think it would be to hard, maybe I will find a mirror head I like and have a machinist make me some arms that will fit the way I want them to.

i agree that the mirrors for metrics need to be a bit lower.
when i installed my mirrors, i had to twist the brake and clutch levers down a bit so the mounts for the mirrors would be pointed upright instead of at my legs. how i had them before, i just grip and that's it, but the shoulder socket on the backs of the new mirrors are not as aimable as the stockers, and i'm pretty tall (6'4"). it was necessary to twist the levers, but since i'm so lanky, my fingers still reach fine. if you have a tall vantage point yet have short fingers, you might have a problem with this. otherwise, enjoy the full view. i'll see if i can get the digital cam out and take a pic catching the views of both mirrors at once. mightn't happen on the road, but in the garage you can see how wide the view is. |

I swear. I'm like a teenage girl. (I don't know what I want) I came across these earlier today. I must be the first person in the world to see them because I can't find a single customer review or a picture other than this one. I like the look and think it will flow with the rest of the bike.
That's it I'm ordering them before I change my mind again. There the Kuryakyn Scythe Mirrors. Funny. This is the forth set of mirrors I've seriously considered in two days. ![]() Hopefully they won't have the chrome problem. |

You should be able to get it down in there so there's no more than 1 thread exposed above the nut.

The adapter cranks all the way into the stem. Run the locknut all the way up to the stem, then thread the mirror into the perch.
Count the exposed threads between the nut and the perch. Remove the mirror and cut that many threads plus one off of the bottom of the adapter. You can now thread the stem/adapter all the way in until the nut touches. Back it off enough to line it up, then run the nut down and lock it in... shouldn't have more than 1 thread exposed above the nut. There is another kind of adapter that has a sleeve on the nut that covers the threads, but they tend to be almost 1/4" taller than the kind that's just a stepped stud with a plain nut. I haven't done mine yet... too lazy.

Did you decide to go with these? I was all set to grab the Arlen Ness Big Eye but now I see all these complaints about shoddy chrome jobs Arlen Ness seems to have so might stick with my boring stockers. They are functional at least.

I think I could live with they way you have yours mounted, I am assuming you used the adapter bolt and the stock nut? did you have to modify the mirror or the nut to get that to work like that?

Funny I was just about to up date everyone.
I just got my mirrors, 1 1/2" drag bars, and grips in the mail today. I actually went with the Kuryakyn mirrors. The chrome everyone was talking about was starting to worry me. I'm real satisfied with the Kuryakyn mirrors. They appear to be very sturdy and the chrome is flawless. I just hope they stay that way. I think there about the same size as the Rad-III. I'm still setting around with this broken leg so it will be a while before I can get them installed and take pictures. If the weather gets better I'm going to try and hobble around and put all this stuff on. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

well, they look really nice. you shouldn'y have any problems with the metal flaking off. kuryakin products last pretty long until you scratch them... so just don't scuff the mirrors on the tight turns!
