Talking Which first, PCIII and Pipes or PCIII and Thunder Air Kit?

O.K., I am finally getting of the fence. I know I am buying the PCIII, Vance and Hines Big Shots, and the Thunder Air kit. But I want to ease the blow the the wallet and wife, so which should I get first, Pipes or Air Kit along with the PCIII.

I found the following on the internet:

PCIII USB for 279.95 w/free shipping

Thunder Smooth Round Air Kit for 209.95 w/free shipping

V and H Big Shots for 469.95 w/ free shipping

All found at Phatperformanceparts.com. If you know of any cheaper let me know!!

Looking forward to the response, its burning a hole in my pocket!!!!!

By the way I just added River Road XL Plain Bags, Cobra Saddle Bag Supports, Mustang Plian Tank Bib, and Mustang Plain Fender Bib. Its coming around surely but slowly.

BH.

Heck, do em all!!

Depends on what you want first:

Performance or sound? You will get a little bounce with the pipes anyway; I'd do pipes and PCIII first.

Yea, I'd suggest, pipes, airkit, PCIII.
If u fit anything after the PCIII, you will need to re-program, so the PCIII should go last.
You will get better sound straight away with the pipes.
Add the airkit as well without the PCIII and you will start getting some interesting sounds. Ones you don't wanna hear.

Why not buy them as your budget dictates and then fit them all at once? Each will not really give you the full benefit without the other.

you do not need the pcIII with just pipes, but you will need it for the air kit. hope this helps.

With the stock pipes adding the PCIII and the intake will add torque and make your stockers sound deeper. If you have a laptop then this would be my suggestion.

If not then just get pipes.

Cool

Did I mention I'm fickle =P

My final anwer:
Caddman intake http://www.gadgetjq.com/caddmankit.htm
Look at the bottom of the page where Gadget just removed his side cover and replaced it with a $14 filter. Not as cool as the Thunder but it'll get er done for now and performance should be about the same.

Then you can afford pipes and PCIII
Are you going to use one of dynojet's maps or have it tuned??

I agree, Pipes, then air kit, then PCIII. However, I would do the air kit and the PCIII at the same time. Also, give these guys a call.

Ask for Paul and he can quote you over the phone. This is where I got the best prices after looking all over the internet. I got better prices than what you have already been quoted. Hope this helps.

I'd make sure I got the Pipes and then worry and then get the air kit and PC-III at the same time. I have the V&H bigshots, Thunder S&S verticle air and techlusion TFI, but I too want to get the PC-III. You find a good map for the PC-III? I would eventually like to get a custom map, but if I could find a good map I could get the PC-III now and have the bike dyno'd down the road. I've also been looking hard for some bags and had all but decided to go with the River Roads, but I was told by some the XL's were just too big. How do you like yours and would you happen to have some pictures? Thanks.

I got the pipes first.
Then the PCIII and Thunder Tornado at the same time.
I also got my hands on a map from a member here. That is one of the great things about the PCIII, the ability to swap and try different maps effortlessly.
It also makes sense from a time standpoint to install the PCIII and airkit at the same time. They both require moving around some of the same parts on the bike.

Will getting the pipes first with no PC damage the pipes due to the lean running, or make them blue premature. Will there be excessive backfire?

My budget will probablly only let me get pipes for now.

it shouldn't harm your bike to put pipes on first. I was informed that if your bike is FI it will adjust slightly to make up for the leaner condition.
And all pipes will blue somewhat anyways. That is what the heat shields are for, to hide the blueing.
I had a bit of a backfire issue. Marbling the reed valve inlet will eliminate that popping on deceleration.
