Thumbs up V2K & 2nd Gear Slip plus Clutch issues

Just in case any of you V2K junkies remember my issue with my V2K slipping in 2nd gear and only just before you hit the rev limiter, I just got my V2K back from the Dealer yesterday.
I have a resolution.

SNAFU and myself had the same problem, both of us just over 20,000. The problem was covered under the Extended Warranty that we both bought. The $600 price tag of the 4 extra years of Extended Warranty paid for itself about 3 times over already, and I have 2 years left.

So the issue wasn't really a slippage of 2nd gear, it turned out that it was POPING OUT of 2nd Gear for just a Split Second just before the rev limiter hit.

The damaged pieces were the Shift Fork, 2nd Gear and the Shift Drum. Now the Shift Drum will NEVER be in stock at any Dealer. It can only be ordered off the Assembly line in Japan. So it takes a couple of weeks to get.

The problem seems to be fixed, and I can't remember it shifting so smooth, but I'm sure it did when new.

I also had a clutch that would let the bike continue to roll at 3-5 mph even when you had the clutch pulled in. It was adjusted correctly, but the Steel plates were burned, warped and the friction plates were definately worn. The warped plates caused them to NOT separate completely, so you always had contact of some sort between the plates and the bike continued to roll. Plus the rough shifting was because you never really could disengage the clutch completely to shift.

New 2nd Gear, New Clutch, new 240 Rear Tire and Rear Brakes and she feels like NEW again.

Just wanted to update the V2K Junkies in case any one else is having this issue. But remember, riding sedately, you'll never feel 2nd gear pop out, so you'll never know if you have a problem.
So run her up to just 2 or 3 mph before the rev limiter hits once in a while and test her out.

As a side note about Extended Warranties, some people believe Extended warranties are a waste of money. Once in a while we see a thread asking if they are worth the money.
Well,my repairs would have cost 3 times more than both My wife's and My Extended Warranties price tag.

We also both bought iMacs, each with a 3 year warranty for $170 each, for a total of $340. Debi had to take her iMac in for a video problem last weekend, and with a $1500 price tag to fix her iMac, it paid for our Warranty plans 4 times over.

Our Maytag Washer took a dive, the 4 year warranty cost less than the repair bill, again we win.

I paid $700 for an extended Warranty for my Mustang GT years ago, and a rear end problem would have cost me $1500, was covered with a $100 co-pay. I made out on that deal.

Now our PT Cruiser, Cost $1500 for the Extended warranty, we only got $900 of it back when the Water Pump took a dive and I also had them change the Timing Belt while they were at it, so I didn't have to pay for the labor a few thousand miles later on when it was time to change the Timing Belt.
But we are still waaaaaaay ahead of the curve.

So some would say I'm Lucky with Extended Warranties, and others would say I have bad luck to have those problems at all..
I guess it's the "Glass half Empty or Half Full" Mentality". It all depends on how you look at life.

Ok I strayed a tad away from the original subject, but I'm a BIG believer in Extended Warranties.
