It seems that it is easier to hop up a 1500 than 1600 ? For example Thunder mfg offers too Port and Polish the heads and several hop up kits for the 1500 to get it up to 100 ft pds torque and not much more than a new Air Cleaner for the 1600 Sooooo Does the 1500 have more aftermarket potential ?????
Or Does those Thunder just need to update there site ????? If you'd narrowed it down to these two bikes (buying new) but you wanted to bump up the output a little but still have the bike be drivable and reliable which way would you go, and why ???? Thanks

the 1500 has been arond since 1289 bc so it will of course have more stuff made for it. the 1600 has been around for only a few years...stuff will come along but it will take time.

No doubt! I like spending $$ on the engine and would like to do it on something other that a 20K HD or the nightmarish Boss Hoss (It's like I see the reaper coming for me on on one of these).

Sure... but the Thunderstorm is $1000+ and you still need to buy the "recommended" pipes, FI controller and air kit. Btreaves got
93 ft/lbs on a dyno from a 1600 Meanie with his bolt ons. Probaby squeeze a little more with 2/1 pipes. It's not crazy racing numbers but it sure is sweet for your daily ride!

The question I asked myself a few months back when I was still shopping, was which one was most likely to be phased out. Maybe they both stick around for many years to come, but I have to believe the 1600 will be around longer... hopefully it won't be an issue for a long time.
