Default Ghost brackets and Sissy bar.

Hello All,

I thought I would share some information I got about using Ghost Brackets with a quick release sissy bar.

This is some email correspondence I had with Ghost Brackets support

Quote:
I am wondering if you guys would ever come out with a quick release Sissy bar for your ghost bracket posts. Ideally what I would love to see is a post with 2 groves. One for the saddle bags and one for the sissy bar.

I would really like to be able to have a sissy bar for my wife and also have my saddlebags on at the same time but be able to take both of those things off quickly when I'm alone and riding around town.

>Dear Lance,

What bike do you have? There are a few options available and we can recommend a few setups, which would work exactly the way you need.

Thanks,

Jerry

I have the 2009 VN900 Custom.

Thanks!

Lance

Hi Lance,

You can use paladin backrest National Cycle

And then use our bracket on top of it.

Thanks

Jerry

Is there room on the Ghost Bracket post's slot for the paladin backrest and the saddle bag (ghost) bracket?

if so this is an ideal solution!

Yes it will work. We have many clients do this. Edge Fully Reinforced Saddlebags and Quick Release ( Detachable ) Saddlebag System kind of how it will look different backrest.
I wanted to confirm this with National Cycle so i emailed their customer support:

Hello,

I have a 2009 VN900 Custom. I have the Ghost Bracket saddle bag system installed Ghost Brackets Quick Release Saddlebag System - Vulcan 900 Custom (2005 to Present). My question is this; Will your Paladin Quick Set Mounting Hardware fit on the Ghost bracket posts ("keepers") and will they fit on there at the same time as the saddle bags?

Thank you,

Lance

Hello, I have heard from the gentlemen that run Ghost Brackets that the Paladin system will work with their brackets. Our hardware would just go on the inside closest to your fender.

Thank You
So there you have it, you can have a quick release sissy bar and saddle bags.

Please clarify if you can. You're saying if you use the Ghost Brackets, then you can use the Palidin Sissy Bar, in a quick-release form. Got that. Can you use any saddlebags, or do you have to go with the company listed. I'd love to convert my 900LT stock bags to this system for solo riding. Thanks.

was just teasing because i went through a whole mission to try and design a quick release sissybar to work with my EasyBrackets.

I liked the idea of the Paladin but assumed it wouldn't work with the EasyBrackets.

my own design idea failed

so i finally found one i'd like permenantly mounted to my Custom
(it just needs some custom mounting brackets made as Kuryakyn don't make any for Vulcans)

Seems the 'edge brackets' have a different product code if you want to be able to use them with the Paladin backrest......

You can make just about any bags work with the Ghost Bracket mounts as long as the back of them is ridged.

Not a consideration. The only time they will be on is when my wife is with me. Trust me, if you’re looking in the area of the backrest brackets... let’s just say the brackets won’t be the focus of your attention

Well I never did get the sissy bar because my bike mod funds ran out. But the hardware wouldnt be on without the sissy bar anyway beacuse it all comes off with this concept.

yes but the chrome hardware that replaces the chrome on the fender is plain flat and straight. I'm not sure if I'd like that look in place of the exisiting chrome.

Well theseguys said, (and maybe I'm not clear on this) that you could just put the paladin backrest right onto the ghost brackets and not put that strait chunk of junk they have with it on your fender.

I did notice that when I was looking hard at getting all of this stuff and it is another reason I never followed through.

Yea thats what holds me back on the paladin. I think I i'd rather spend a little extra time removing regular sissy bar after a trip. I only want it to strap down gear when I go on long trips.
