Default Leather Vest and Gorilla Glue???

Sorry about the off topic request...But I need some advice. I just recieved my new leather vest and I need to put my local Chapter and ROK patch on it. I don't have time to send it to a seamstress and I reaaaaaalllllllllly don't want to do it myself. The chapter patch is HUGH. We have a ride tomorrow and I would like to wear it. Anyway, i was told by a craft shop that the Gorilla Glue may work, wether it be temporary or permenant. Also I was worried about what it may do to the leather (if anything) .Has anyone done this or have experience with this. Or other quick options.

    Thanks,
    Danny

NO, NO, NO, it may hold it but that crap foams and get really ridged. Gorilla glue will also ruin the patch and the vest.

Try a local dry cleaners that does alternations. They might be able to sew it on while you wait!

I have used Gorilla Glue for many things but I would not use GG on any thing that can flex. When dry GG is is sandable and accepts paint and stain easily, Not the traits you desire in a fabric glue. It has been years since I have done leather work but I believe that rubber cement is the best glue for fabric to leather then have the patch sewn on properly after the ride. Better get to it quick as you want 24 hours dry time. Enjoy the ride.

You might also try a shoe repair shop. They often have the right equipment and will sometimes do it on the spot. You need to sew all patches on, even the ones with the coating that says you can iron them on.

Nix on the glue, love the stuff and use it to build my SPADs with. Take your vest to a shoe repair shop, they can stitch those patches on too IF you don't have someone in town that does vests anyways. If you have rally's in your area, you probably have someone local. Check the yellow pages.

whenever my friends need something sewn on, they take it to the amish people down the road....supposedly, they sew everything way better than anyone else in my friends opinion.

Just called the local shoe repair guy. He's gonna try to work me in. So we'll see. If not it'll be ready for the next run.
I kinda figured it was that is the way it had to be. Just looking for a little quick fix but didn't want to ruin anything. I want it do right.

    Thanks everyone.

Rubber cement works pretty good (must be applied correctly) if you can't get it sewn on.
