left side grip, try warming it up, or blow air under it and twist and they will usually break free, still a pain, but you gotta work at it, if you cant get it let me know, I have a stock lefty laying around somewhere.

as far as the rears shocks you are going to need to get the bike up, otherwise you are going to fight getting them on.

Its starting to look good, cant wait to see it all painted up.

the switch on the kickstand is a safety switch that kills the bike if you put it in gear when the kickstand is down, or put the kickstand down while the bike is still in gear. they have been known to go bad and the bike won't run.

as for the grips, i would just pick up a new set.

The foot control looks good enough for what I'm doing. How's this sound. Take it off, put it in a box with a check for 20.00 (to cover my shipping and gas to the post office) and send it to me. I'll put your new one in a similar box and send it to you (no check though, sorry). Pm me your address if this is acceptable to you.

By the way, looking good as it's coming together. Your pics really make me think these bikes look better without mirrors though.

Still contemplating exactly what to do with the wires - I still have to take off the gas tank and stuff so kinda letting that part "hang" for a while. haha

Mean - I pm'd you on the bracket.

Okay going to put on the gauges and rear footpegs and go for a ride!!! It is beautiful out and it is time for the first longer ride. yeah!

Well - the left hand grip was a disaster! apparently when put on it was glued completely!! even cutting it down the middle wouldnt work.

The passenger footpegs and brackets are on.

Now an decision to make - The exhaust on the bike right now, from gallery opinions, is a 3" HK or something like that. I have to change it out because it is dented up and has rust pitting. Located a stock exhaust for the SE cheap - but I really like the sound of what I have.

Will the stock exhaust - with the goat and all really be quiet??

Anyone have any exhausts you upgraded from that I could grab at a reasonable price. I dont need LOUD, but something that looks good and sounds good without losing power like I will with the stock SE exhaust.

Picures to come when I get back from business trip in PA.

going from HK 3" to stock will be a very big difference. you probably won't notice any power loss as i am pretty sure you never located a power commander, but the sound will be like night and day. keep your eyes on ebay. some states are getting tough on noise levels so you might find a used set for a decent price. i would like to swap mine out for the HK 2 into 1 afterburner, but don't have the money to buy that set right now.

Yup Meanie!!!!! Thank you. the new bars with the risers made a huge difference. Mirrors are cool. I have to try on the originals as well to make a decision but so far so good.

ispeed thanks for the info... i am going to put the stock on for now and keep my eyes open.. i cannot believe how much they want for new exhausts out there...

Well I am going to remove the rear fender so I can get some paint put onto the new tank, front fender and rear fender. Going to go with a traditional gloss black while I work out what type of custom paint i want on the tank.

Question - if you are getting something hand painted or something on the tank and fenders can they just do it right over the gloss black paint or do they have to sand it down and repaint it all??

While fender is off I will replace the shocks - going to be chrome - but hey you take what you can afford to start with.

Thanks for explaining what that is for.

Tomorrow expecting delivery of the fats 21" windscreen - they came today and I was in PA for business
That will go on soon - very anxious to feel the difference on highway driving.

David, give a hard look at painting this bike the Diablo Black which is the stock color of the '08 Meanie and of my '08 Nomad. It's drop-dead gorgeous both in the shade and the sun with all the metallic. You can have whatever you want over the top of it and then clear coat everything when finished.

Also my son, whom you purchased the tank from, has one black Meanie shock that you guys could get together on. When his friend took his bike without permission and dumped it, the shock got scratched. The other day when I was visiting him, I simply turned the upper portion of the shock to the backside to hide the scratch. So if you want to get at least one of the shocks from him and another one somewhere else, you would at least have a start at having black shocks which is what you'll want on your bike for sure.

If you need his email address or phone number, let me know and I can hook you guys up again.

Get this.....the insurance paid over $450 to replace the one scratched shock. Dealer hit them up for full cost yet gave a 20% discount to my son. Point is, they are very expensive over the counter from the dealer but you can get this one from him for a decent price I'm sure. Thanks!

Bob

they will have to prep the parts for paint, ie. sand them down to some point. some will sand down to bare metal, but most will get through the clear coat so the new paint will adhere to the old.

oh, and no prob.
yeah, pipes are crazy expensive. not sure what's worse, the price i paid for my pipes or the fact that i paid even more for my seat.

I spoke to a graphic guy last week and he asked me the condition of my paint, well I just had my front fender done and tank so he said that is better since it is less work for them. So like Dave says a little sanding is all they do and even better if you are repainting prior to laying graphics down.

Boy this guy I talked to was not cheap but his art work was incredible. He quoted me about 1500 for a simple flame theme, I wish I knew that before I had my paint redone.

Bob - could you post up a pic of the bike with that color? or send it to me? So there are "sparkles" within the paint??

David, PM me with your email address and I can forward you some pics that were taken of the Nomad the other day. They are good quality and should show the paint fairly well.

I don't have a camera right now so will need to send you these pics this way. Sorry to be slow in responding....just got home from work a bit ago.
