    Default Aftermarket air cleaner element

Does anyone know where I can get an aftermarket air cleaner element for my 900 classic? I hoped to get a K&N but apparently they don't make one yet. I wanted a high flow without having to change the whole filter system.

Unfortunately, there's no such thing. K&N has no current plans to produce an aftermarket replacement for the stock 900 air box according to one poster who recently contacted them regarding this same thing. You want more air flow.....gonna cost you $170-$275 and about 45 minutes worth of work.

I came to the same conclusion after searching all the web sites I could find, but was still holding out hope.
I had a Thunder kit on the Nomad so maybe I will see what they have for the 900.

Beware. I ordered a thunder ait kit over two months ago and I am still waiting on it. I ordered it through mean cycles. I talked to thunder every week for the last three weeks and they informed me that is will go out every friday, but it has still not shipped. Just a little bit of frustration here. You can go with either a Arlen Ness nig sucker kit or a Baron Big Air Kit, but they do not have as many options availible.

I only live an hour away from them so I normally call and see if it is in stock and pick it up in person. I can understand the frustration, they have a pretty large warehouse so I don't know why they would not have it. Guess it is like everything else lately, nobody wants to stock a large amount of anyone thing and wait until they get enough orders.

Can't you do a coyote kit type of thing for a 900? Perhaps retrofit a backplate from a 1500 to the 900 carb, then put an 8 1/2 inch K&N on it?

I might be possible, this is the first 900 I have owned. I had a Nomad prior and used the thunder kit on it. I have not taken the 900 air system apart yet to see what would be possible. But I am open to any ideas that come along.
