Second generation? Sure...that'll get you into the Paddy's day parade. :^) But you have to know the difference in taste between Irish Guinness and American Guinness

(Sablesurfer - beer snob since 1902...who's uncle even worked at Guinness at one point...:^)

Irish Guinness is spelt with two 'N's. Is that the difference? Do I win a prize?

It doesn't make you Irish, but it probably does entitle you to play for the Republic of Ireland National soccer team.

Ooo. I like soccer. Wait a minute. I thought it was called football. Now I'm confused.

I was indeed translating it from English into American. It was funny to watch the first few interviews that David Beckham did when he started to play for LA Galaxy. They all included something like, "I'm just glad to be over here playing footba... errrrrr... I mean... soccer."

God love him, he's not the sharpest tool in the box, but he's a hard worker and talented with it.

Sorry for highjacking your thread Rival Dealer. Back on topic - any more Irish VN owners on here?

Traced our family tree. My people came from Ireland back very late 1600s thru Germany to South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and finally Indiana in 1806. Moore is me last name. Does that make me Irish?

Grandfather from Dublin which I guess counts for more than those 4th generation + Irish Americans who have never been to Ireland

that's the trouble with American forums... they're infested with Americans.

I'd call them yanks again, but John'll get all pi$$y and sulk just like last time
(not sure if he's even seen this thread though)

There are plenty of Irish-Americans, African-Americans, Spanish-Americans, Dutch-Americans, Scotch-Americans, German-Americans, Italian-Americans, Chinese-Americans, Polish-Americans...

There seem to be very few American-Americans in America.

I'm not sure if native Americans are allowed motorbikes.

Give them another couple of 100 years to grow up and then they might have a culture of their own

I think that simply being an American is fair enough. I don't understand the need to cloak oneself in someone else's mantle. If someone's family has been in America 3 or 4 generations, then they're an American and so were their parents. Nothing wrong with that.
