Rarely.

If I'm within view of the bike or it is being watched, I don't even lock the ignition down. Normal parking, ignition is locked but that's it.
If I get a "vibe" from people I see in the parking lot, I'll lock the hardbags and trunk, or if I'm putting the GPS or camera in them.

Overnight stops at a hotel, everything is locked including a disc lock and "Cobra" cable looped through the rear wheel and over the back seat so it's obvious it's cabled, or when riding with others, the cable goes through 3 bikes' front wheels and crash bars.

Never; not even occsionally when traveling.

When traveling the Nomad is usually right outside my motel room window with a cover over it for the night.

Now that you have brought it to my attention I'll have to get out the lock lube and also check to see that it still works.

I traveled several times last year with a guy that has the same model Nomad. His is a beautiful 2 tone and he keeps it in better than new condition. It has lots of well thought out and pricey extras that really makes it stand out. I figured that they would steal his first. <Big Grin>

You can lock the forks?

I always take my keys when I'm out of sight of the bike, and I have a cable lock I use if I'm in an unfamiliar area, but I've never even tried my forks lock. I might be more likely to if the switch on the 900 was easier to use.

Insurance helps.

1500, 1600, and 900 have a fork lock separate from the ignition switch.
The 1700 has moved the fork lock to the regular ignition switch more like sportbikes.

Look on the right side of your steering head... should be right there at the lower clamp.

Most of the time. Only time I don't is when I can see it like at the barber shop.

Everyone at my company is afraid that if they touch my bike (the rare times that I ride to the office) I'll bite their head off.

Most of the time, but then I have a somewhat negative view of my fellow man.

I wish that the fork lock and the ignition switch were on the same side!

I have to admit that I'm a slacker in this department. When I first got it, I locked the fork, had a big cable lock and sometimes even put on the cover everytime I parked it.

Now I've gotten lazy and forgetful. A lot of times I've forgotten to even take the key out of the ignition...for extended periods of time in all kinds of locations...came back with everything intact. I'll probably come out sometime saying "me so stupid!"

Ooops. Better mail in my insurance premium....

Dude, you live in Tacoma are you crazy not locking you bike up So many criminal types there, I would lock the forks, discs, put it in a garage, chain it and get a pack of starving rotts to guard it.

It's a crying shame you can't enjoy having something without worring about somebody stealing it. I don't lock mine around home, if they steal it I won't have to worry about anylonger.

I stay off of the Hilltop and the few other dicey areas. Overall, Tacoma is a nice town, Wanna get something stolen? Go to Seattle.

No one's ever bothered my bike or anything else in the past 16 years I've lived here.
