Question Do you Guys use Torque Cones when putting after market pipes on ?

    Hiyas All,

So how many of you install "Torque Cones" into your header pipes when putting aftermarket pipes on ?
    Did they help ?
What happens if you put on aftermarket pipes without "Torque Cones" ?
Im just interested, as i will be putting some aftermarket pipes on soon & just want to know if i really need them or not ?.
The pipes i am considering are "Highway Hawk - Fat Pipe Staggered" or possibly some normal "Drag Pipes"
    Thankyou,

I wish I could help you but I can't "sorry". I just jumped in so I can follow this thread and hopefully learn a little myself.

Torque Cones are small cones that are inserted into the end of each pipe at the header end before each pipe is then mounted to the exhaust port on your bike, below is a picture of some cones:

Now, as far as i am aware, what these do, is to stop the reversion pulse from coming back into the exhaust port & disrupting the exhaust gas flow, these cones are usually used in pipes without any baffles, such as "Drag Pipes".
They are supposed to stop you losing too much low end torque when running without baffles.
I have run drag pipes without baffles & without torque cones & im sure that i did lose a little bit of low down torque, but when i installed the torque cones, it really did feel that the lost torque came back, now, this was only done via "Seat of the pants Riding" & not on a Dyno, so i cant give you any figures!.
    I hope this helps

I've never run torque cones but I've always run baffles too. Though there are some who might believe my Hardkromes don't have baffles!

torque cones do work. My cousin installed them in his drag pipes and they impressively do the job.
