Default o.e.m. rear for 900 classic

Is there somewhere to buy a Dunlop rear in size 180/70-15 other than the dealer? The Dunlop site says available through oem only. I looked at several other sites and was unable to see that size. Getting close to needing a new rear. Thanks

Go to the "Accessory Swap Meet" elsewhere in this forum. That is where I found both front and rear Dunlops for my 900LT.

In my opinion, there are better tires than the stockers. Why do you want to stick with them?

When I was shopping for new tires for my LT, I tried looking to see if the OEM 404's were available from anyone but the dealer. No luck. Couldn't find them in that size anywhere. I happen to agree with the last two posters. There are a whole lot better tires out there than those Dunlops. If you wish to stay with the original size 180/70-15, the selection is not endless, but what is available is quite good. Both Metzeler and Pirelli have that size. I replaced both of my tires with Pirelli MT66TOUR's and after 3K miles they still look almost new. They both ride and handle better IMO. Only got 5300 miles out of the OEM's before the rear was slightly below 2mm of tread. If you want to swap to a 170/80-15, then the selection gets larger.

No problems at all. That's the configuration that I have been running for the last 1,000 miles. Gonna get a front Metz tomorrow though 'cause the Dunnie is used up.

I ran my OEM dunlop with my ME880 for 10,000 miles with no problems at all.. I agree with the other posts that I wouldnt do another OEM.. There are much better tires.. I prefer the ME880... I just replaced my front OEM after 17K miles..right now I have both ME880 front and rear... I hope to go another 3-4K on my rear before I have to replace it.. that would put 15K on my rear ME880...

Ditto... just move to the 170 or the 200.
The 200 will fit fine with the stock pulleys and no lowering kit.
It will rub the fender support with the front Scootworks pulley at full suspension compression.

OEM red was shot by 8,000, solo riding, no fairing, hardbags, etc....
Replaced both front and rear with Dunlop E3... couldn't believe the difference the new front made... even though the old one still had plenty of tread.

Got 14k out of that first E3 rear... probably could have gone 15k.
Replaced it and got about 11k out of the next one... the front had 25k on it and the left half was just getting into the wear bars.
That was about 80% 2-up... hardbags, fairing, trunk, etc...
