at my local dealer but wouldn't you know it, it was next to a Gold Wing. I had two totally different reactions as I looked them over, both good. However, if my wife ever sees that back seat and storage on the Gold Wing she won't even let me consider the Voyager. Hmm, I probably ought to keep her out of the Harley dealership also as I've got to admit that lately the the Electra Glide has caught my attention. Thank goodness Ruby meets my current riding needs and for two sons in college to keep the discretionary income restricted!
Have I mentioned how hot it is in Mississippi lately.... ![]()

Picked mine up 3 weeks ago.
Bad news: windscreen too high...I'll remedy that. a bit of a rattle at low speed down in fork covers (I'll fix that too) Radio programming is not intuitive and manual is less than helpful (kids will fix that when they're home) Good news: Handles extremely well at low speeds my wife has a delicate derriere and loves the seat good power in lower 4 (5th and 6th are overdrives) $6,000 to $9,000 (Canadian) cheaper than Electra Glides $1,500 to $3,000 cheaper than Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki contenders, nicer to look at and better equipped too. I got 45.6 mpg (IMP GAL) on a 600+ KM trip on July 1 on backroads and secondary highways; and I've only got 2000 kms on it. I bet that by the end of the summer I'll get over 50 mpg. |

Kodiakmac, please drop in and keep us informed on your experiences with the Voyager as you get more mileage and time with this bike. I hope to be making an "informed" decision about a larger touring bike by this time next year...

Our run was the St. Lawrence Valley - pretty flat. I kept the cruise at 100 k (bit over 60 mph). Me wife and I are doing a run tomorrow up to Mont. Tremblant via Hwy 327 on the Quebec side...lots of ups and downs and shifting; a really great ride. I'm going to track the gas mileage, but I have a funny feeling I'll be lucky to get 35 mpg (imp gal).

The Voyager is a nice bike... don't get me wrong, but the initial quality between the two is not comparable. I won't ever buy a bike with a frame mounted fairing; just not my style. I have my eyes set on a V2K next, though... once I get past the 200k mark on my bike.

Hello 9511234. Funny, once I took the Voyager demo for a ride and did some low speed figure eights and 90 degree turns, I loved that frame-mounted fairing. It really helped to sell the bike.
I've rode both Harleys and Nomads with fork mounted fairings. The Voyager requires a lighter touch...and the lighter the better on something that tips the scales at close to 900 lbs. Give one a try on a demo day and you'll see what I mean. And as far as the quality of the Voyager as compared to an Ultra Classic; on this side of the Border you'll spend at least $8,000 more for a two-tone UC with the same whistles and bells as the Voyager...and you'll still have an air-cooled, pushrod engine. And for that kind of coin, I'm quite prepared to pass up a bit of extra chrome.

Meh... if I don't like the way it looks I won't ride it. Let me put it this way... I don't like the looks of a frame mounted fairing. I don't even like Street glides, so it's not manufacturing specific.
I fully understand the function and benefits to mounting it to the frame, but I just don't like it. I can handle full well the little added weight to the handlebar movement. I'm glad I'm not on that side of the border... sorry to hear it costs so much for a UC, because I think it would make the decision a little tougher for ya... especially when you factor in technical support, warranty length, and aftermarket items. All of you, I encourage you to be on your Voyager rave. It was interesting when it came out... but now that it's come out I'm not that excited about it, but by all means don't let me be a buzz kill. Happy Riding!

Yup, to each their own. It's too bad there's such a discrepancy between the H-D prices up here and your stickers in the US. I guess there's still enough buyers up here willing to plunk down the cash...I'm not one of them.
