Did you purge the air out of the system?
Air pockets in a liquid pressurized system are vey bad. They are 'hot pockets' if you will, which means you over heated your engine. If it does not go through coolant you got very lucky.

No like Alf stated you need to look in your bike manual or a service manual on how to "Burp" the air out of your lines in your specific model. Especially since it seems that your Radiator cap is not on the top right corner of the actual radiator.

Usually it involves filling up the radiator overfill and taking the radiator cap off. Then start the bike and watch for it to bubble. The level usually drops if you have air in the line. If you do, just keep topping it off till it doesn't drop anymore.

Once you are done burping the system check the overfill container after a few minutes giving the system time to relax and see if you need to add any to that.

again that is the general way to do it when the radiator cap is on the top of the radiator and not in a remote location like it seems yours is. It may be the same though.
