Default How many miles on stock tires?

How many miles are you guys getting out of stock tires?

I've got 7200 on mine and I'm going on a 1500-2000 mile trip in a couple weeks. Right now they seem to have plenty of tread left, no leaks, etc.

Just trying to decide if I should replace them before I leave.

I've already made ~16000km (~10kmiles) and they look absolutely ok.

I did about 13,000 on mine, and they were completely used up.

Rear replaced at about 15,000 and front at about 17,000. As I understand, I got excellent mileage out of them.

Yep, 13k on the front OEM but it should have been replaced about 1500 ago. I had to replace the rear awhile back because of a nail.

Sounds like I'm good to go then. Mine seem to still look just fine also, but I didn't want to have any problems.

I have 16,500 on both the front and new. I could probably get another 2-3K out of them, but am changing them next week. I'll have about 17K on them and I'm comfortable with that. Only reason I'm changin now is I have a few bucks extra right now, so I thought I'd change the tires now before they're completely shot and I might be lower on funds.

Wow....great mileages for you guys. Is it normal that my factory tires were shot at 7800? Neither the front or back would pass inspection. Factories were Bridgestone Battlax, replaced them with Shinko Ravens.

22,000 miles on the rear. Still had some rubber left.

It depends on several things so your numbers may have little to do with anyone elses. Where you live has a huge impact. If you have abrasive road surfaces, pot holes, poorly cambered turns you will have accelerated wear. If you are a big guy or ride 2-up a lot same story. That said the relatively light weight 900 on our smooth roads out west should get a minimum of 15000 miles. My wife put about 14,000 on her 900 (ME880's) before she sold it and they had another 5K+ left in them. I regularly got 15,000+ on my much heavier 1600 Classic.
The numbers from FAKE.... and Nomad09 are a good guide. At 7200 I would not worry too much about it.
    Enjoy the ride!

Wow those are insane numbers. I got 6700 out of mine and they were due to be change 500 miles before that easy. I'm at 8300 on the front now hoping to go 12,000 before it's done. We will see.

Replaced my stock rear tire after 1 year and 2 weeks and 8030 miles. The front tire still looks good for quite a bit of time.

On my 800 I picked up a nail in the rear and had to change it early but I'm at over 19k miles on the front and it still has some tread left

I never thought about the texture of the road surface. They do alot of that chip and seal or whatever around hear(chat, oil, chat, oil, chat ect.) I bet that is why I only got 6500 miles out of my rear. I thought there was something seriously wrong with the way I ride. Whew!

I averaged 7500 miles on both of my original Bridgestone Rears and almost 16K on the front. Went with ME880 radials and have 10K on both , front and rearand they both look very good.I also went with the higher pressure recommended by Metzler. I must say that I am not thrilled about the wet traction and am confident the high pressure has a lot to do with it.

Since I'm always paranoid about stuff like this. Here's a picture of my tire, what do you guy think?
