Last night I yanked the engine and tore it all apart so I could take the cyl heads to get the porting done . Today, the stars ligned up and the pistons arrived from Thunder.
When talking to the guys at thunder ,I asked about cc's and the person I was talking to didn't know the cc's it would make a 1600 for sure. I did see something on their site about 103mm,so that is what I was expecting. That was fine ,I was more interested in compression anyways. (the stock bore is 102mm). I just opened the box and measured em....104.7 at the skirt. TOO cool. a quick calculation: Radius squared X 3.14 X stroke X no of cyls 105divided by 2=52.5mm X52.5 ..X 3.14 X 95 X2 = 1644 cc...Awsome 1644.X .061 = 100.2 cu inches... ..if done using 104.8 mm bore(more accurate bore size)..probably 99.something A 100 inch engine with proper porting and some compression...cant wait. If these stars stay lined up like this,I'll be riding her Monday/Tues nite.(lol,of course that would require me to remember how all these gazillion connectors, hydralic clutch stuff, fuel lines and wires go,..which I hope wont confuse my simple mind too much.)

I am waiting for the new Kawasaki Sport-touring (ZZR1200 replacement) to come out towards the end of this year. A lot of speculation but nobody knows anything about it.

I'm also curious what kawi's new touring bikes will be. Those fjr's are cool,as well as st1300's. Myself ,I'm thinking someday I want a pure touring, and my MS still in the garage stripped down with a hot paint job and chrome wheels.

i was thinking pure touring, but i don't really care for them. i looked at the sport-tourers before i bought the Nomad and i was all set to buy a BMW, but then i decided to stay with a cruiser. unfortunately, i love to corner and the Nomad is limited. the ST is a beautiful bike, but the FJR does it for me and is supposed to be the quickest of the sport-tourers. hopefully i will get to sit on one in about two weeks and as long as i am comfortable on it i will have one by the end of the summer, sooner if certain things pan out for me.....

check out (I'm not certain,as i did a search) but I think Thunder's website is www.thundermfg.com Thunder Manufacturing.
typically a stock 1600MS with pipes and air mods w/ fuel control make about 64-70 hp when dialed in,..with about 85-90 ft /lbs of torque , while this is a great improvement over stock, adding the thunder kit can take you(a lot of variation with level of porting and actual compression ratio adjustment)..to around 90 rwhp, and even bigger gains in torque. stock MS is 1552 cc with very unfinnished cast cyl heads and low compression.

Crue, ..yup,for sure I'll be dynoing. I have a few friends with dynos.I hope to get this thing together soon so little Dove doesn't think I'm nutso, lol.
She came in the garage the other nite when I just got it all apart. She said" Is that you new bike?" (it was in peices). WHYYYYY do you have to do this to everything? .. "I have to slip in these new pistons for better fuel economy!" .....ummm hmmmm(rolls her eyes.) I beleive it IS a sickness of some kind, wonder what it is called. This street bike was to get away from all that stuff,I originally had no intention of ever touching this one,...yup,it IS a sickness....I'm trying to refrain from painting it Dalton metallic orange(I already have lots of paint)...but hopefully the bore job and everything gets here in time so I won't have time to do it,as I want to get it together and ride.

Creole drag races one of his Meanie's and he has a big bore kit in it. He's an inspiration to many at the young age of 65 going out on the weekends and pulling low 12's.

Be really interested if you ran before/after dyno numbers, especially if you took it to the track and ran some 1/4's or timed laps for a comparison. I'm really interested to see the gains over the mod's you already made as they are very similar to mine.
