Default Gel Seat Upgrade

Hello everyone. I am new to the site and picked up my 900 Custom SE last week. As soon as I saw it I had to have it. Has anyone upgraded their seat to a gel comfort one. If so, which brand would you reccommend? The Kawasaki one doesn't seem bad for $204.00

Best I can tell one seat doesn't fit everyone. The Kawa gel seat is considered to be an upgrade to the stock and some who have posted have been very pleased with this upgrade. Myself, I went for the Saddlemen Explorer ($300) and it seems to get better with every ride (I do use an AirHawk cushion for all day rides). By far the forum favorite is the Mustang seat ($400+). Most love it, occasionally someone will post that they don't. My seat purchase was one of my more difficult purchases, good luck in your choice!

I maybe selling mine soon I bought the flame stitch one. It is a good seat but I need more of a touring style seat since I average almost 100 miles a day. $150 is about what the price will be.

Don't know if they freeze, but they will definately get cold and stay cold. And they will definately hold the heat too. Soooo, if you park it in a heated garage, the gel will hold the heat for a while. But, park it outside, and it will freeze your buns.

I was told they do not, but as with most things I would bet as it gets colder ithe gel gets closer to being more solid. but I could be wrong, --don't tell my wife I admitted that I could be wrong.

I have the Kawasaki gel seat and I am very happy with it I ride over a 100 miles everyday and have gone on some long 400 to 500 mile trips with it and for the money its great. When I park it at work I put a white towel over the seat so it doesn't burn me. it does get hot here in Charlotte.

If you like spending money, then get an aftermarket seat, if not then go to an upholster that customizes MC seats and spend about $125. They fit them to your tushie and that does a lot for comfort.Pappie

I didn't buy the gel seat but I did have my seat modified with a gel insert. Cost me close to the same as the gel seat. with shipping. I like it better than the original but I still would like a back rest. Perhaps this winter!!
