I was wondering. Can you get done for wearing a non DOT helmet in a state where helmets aren't compulsory?

I'm rollin' with Nolan. It's the only brand that works with my head and prescription glasses.

Yes, In a relatively empty bag. I usually just leave my helmet on the handlebars, but I sometimes have to clear a spot in the center of a bag to store it in bad areas. I just lay a bandana over the top of the helmet and the bag door closes easily.

It depends on how the state's law is written.
I have heard of people being busted in helmet-optional states with novelty lids (simply using them as a hat/sunblock instead of a do-rag) because the law is written that it is not required to wear a helmet, but if one is worn, it must be DOT approved. To add more confusion, a couple of states that have mandatory helmet requirements make no distinction between DOT and non-DOT. Are you going to get pulled over and cited wearing a non-DOT, CE-approved lid? Not likely. Cops are generally looking for the typical "pudding bowl" novelty helmet, and nobody sells novelty 3/4 or FF lids, so you're not going to get pulled over for it. If you're pulled over for another violation and he notices there's no DOT sticker on the back, you may get cited for it, but if it's got a DOT sticker (and they're only a couple of bucks on eBay), he's not even going to look at the tag on the inside that is supposed to list the FMVSS standard it complies with (unless the padding looks too thin). The biggest problem is getting one. They aren't available here and the manufacturers won't ship to the US... only way to get one would be for someone in the UK/EU to ship one over... and then if it doesn't fit properly, it's going to be a major clusterfk shipping it back, you exchanging it, then shipping another one. Might be able to find an online shop willing to ship one.

I have one of those in the carbon fiber look, as far as looks and the size of it I couldn't complain. The problem with it it doesn't fit my head, it is to oblong and the inside made my head itch something fierce.
