Seems like all we do is buy foreign oil and make plastic. I see lots of "Made in USA" on plastic stuff. Go figure...

Alley Rat a "Kawasaki plant in Kansas" where? I know there is a plant in Maryville, MO. & in Lincoln, NE but do not know of one in Kansas.
I spent the last 3 days working the HD plant in KCMO & a lot of the guys are not happy about the out sourced parts, not the word they used. What bike was in that box? red |

BTW. Porcshe helped "design" the V-rod engine, many parts are outsourced to outside companies because costs for American Labor is way higher then in other countries. Mostly because of all the Wonderful taxes that our goverment inposes. You will find that more and more things being shipped overseas because of our current goverment and its increased spending and free programs.

I thought the V-rod was built completely from scratch in KC, MO? Saw something on Discovery about it Ultimate factories I think. Sowed them Hydroforming the frame, paint, even showed how 1 guy builds the screaming eagle start to finish. Motor assembly the works.
Did something change or what? |

Metric Companies profits go overseas that dose not meen that the bikes that are assembled here that money is given to the American labor and the American dealers also make money but like they are not American Companies. Nothing is truely 100% American anymore except maybe corn. But when we buy American much more of our dollars stay here and help out economy. HD like everyother smart company has to go outside for certain things. Example ; Cabinets being made in China have become a huge business and have killed many small cabinet shops because of the requirements from our goverment and AQMD we cannot produce and use a good quality finish on cabinets here in California its a little better in other states. But the hardeners and chemicals that were allowed to used takes longer to set, do not get as hard, will fade and discolor. So China is allowed to make a better product and sell it here in the States but we have to sell an inferior product. Our own Goverment forces us to go outside our country to buy products gives other countrys tax breaks to sell here and taxes us more. Did you know that we sell our oil to other countries for less money then we buy oil for? and we keep electing these A-holes and they keep rasing our taxes and they increase there benefits. Nice. Sorry for the rant.

It's probably carbs. They use the same carbs as most of our bikes.
I know a guy that used to be a HD fan until he got one that had "Made in China" stamped on the forks. He refuses to ride one now. LOL Hell, even Sonny Barger hates them. |

I needed an encoder motor for my AWD Astro van. Gm encoder $1200 so I went to Piston Ring. Made in China decal where the GM decal is supposed to be, same part, same colour wires, same colour plug. $180 plus taxes. Go figure.

rw979802 you are right the v-rod, Sportster, Dyna are made in KCMO when they are building them, big bikes are made in York, PA. They had a 55% reduction at KC not long ago & are only building the Dyna at this time, they are not building screaming eagle at this time. There are 8 people building the screaming eagle's, yes 1 person builds a bike from start to finish when they are building them. They talked like they would be picking back up some before long. As I said I just worked there for three days this last week.
