Because they didn't want to service my "metric junk". They made some stupid excuse that my metric spindle wouldn't fit in their tire machine....

All I have to say is they lost a sale because of their arrogance.

I was at a funeral this past week and was talking bikes with someone. They said they bought their dad something for his b-day from the HD dealer and he got 2 of them and they wen to return it and the dealer wanted to charge a restocking fee. It was just googles or something too. An in stock part not something custom ordered. Are all HD dealers like this? Or is it different from dealer to dealer?

Usally Harley Dealers are far better at dealing with there customers then metric dealers, but there are good and bad dealers just as there are good and bad parts managers and service managers. My buddy last year on his way to strugis got a flat on his Road Star got a flat in Oregon the metric dealer wouldnt stay open to replace his tire but the Harley dealer did. Most HD dealers don't work on metrics for insurance reasons and the fact that they don't all have metric tools. Although there are a few that sell other brands that do sell brands that need metric tools. they are more likely to help out a metric rider.
Its funny that of course the Harley haters will condemm Hd dealers for not working on metrics but I have never heard of one metric dealer willing to do anything on a Harley but I guess thats OK.

I don't think stuff like that is brand related more what kind of person the owner is either they will help you or not. When I was a young pup in the military I was riding back from a road race in Seattle and got a flat half way home and ruined a fairly new tire, long story short I was broke the Yamaha dealer I made it t not only stayed open late but he put a new tire on and took my information and told me to sent him the money on payday now that doesn't happen everyday but I was sure glad to get home and not be awol

I understand capitalism and parts of it disgust me...dump 5000 jobs to give ONE MAN a $1.2 BILLION dollar bonus?!?!? How much fricken money do you need?

Everything in this "free market" system of ours is based on greed and is lining itself up for implosion. With lobbyists partitioning government on behalf of corporations, it's no wonder that America looks as bad as it does.

You figure between Federal taxes, state and local taxes, communications taxes, sales tax, gas tax, etc., etc., Americans are taxed some 52%! We have the highest labor rates in the world because we live on less than half of it....

This world is broken...
the best way to fix the goverment is to elect positions for life. Then hold elections every 2 years bet after the cemetarys got full they would run the gov right

Better yet, if you didn't do the job you were elected for (i.e. serve in the people's best interests and not your own), majority vote could get you shot. Imagine the amount of good things happening if elected officials actually got held accountable for their actions....

This is not a government "for the people by the people" it has become more like "for the politician at the expense of the people"
