Unfortunately it will not be on a bike but with a group of friends. We are heading from Oregon to the following destinations and using these basic rds for travel. We are interested in local BBQ's which are not considered tourist attractions as well as micro-brews, or anything that is just plain good.
Since this board has people from all over perhaps we could get a couple of suggestions along the way. The Trip: First stop Winnemucca, NV. Then I-80 to Salt Lake City to Denver and then south on I-25 to Colorado Springs (for about 3 days). Next: I-25 to Santa Fe and I-40 to Oklahoma City aiming for Little Rock, AK. From Little Rock back west on I-30/I-35 to Austin, TX for a week at North Padre Island. Then back home via Vegas/Reno, etc. This trip does not make much sense unless you know that the friends we are driving with have a hobby. That hobby is to pee in all 50 state capitals and this trip will add 5 to the list. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Steve |

In Cheyenne there is a excellent old steak house with some of the best prime rib you've ever tasted. It's in a resturant/bar/package store called The Albany & it's right smack downtown across the street from the old historic train depo.
Stop in at the Bud plant & go on a tour and get free beer, nothings better than ice cold made that same day beer

Going East on I80 after you pass Rawlins take the Walcott exit North of I80 to a little town called Medicine Bow and stop in at the historic restaurant there, ya cant mis the old hotel/restaurant & it's got some excellent eats.

This is their hobby and in this day and age it very difficult to do something that nobody else is doing - as a hobby
We are interested in southern eats, being from the west we rarely get to try the differences between a dry rub vs sauces and that is our goal and mission, other than peeing of course. Thanks for the tips so far, I will include them in our routing. Steve - I will only pee as needed |
