I ride a ZX6 and almost every rider I pass initiates or returns my wave. After returning to riding about a year ago after several years without, I thought that maybe the HD riders would dis my ZX6, but not so. 90% of the bikes I encounter are HD's.
I've noticed that since I went from a Vulcan 1600 to a Concours, I get FAR less waves from cruiser riders than I did before the switch. I've even been sneered at a couple times when I waved to HD riders when passing slow enough to see their facial expressions. It doesn't matter to me, it gives me a chuckle. I'm waiting for the "you should get a real bike" comment, and I can explain that if having double the power, better handling, brakes, comfort, and features is part of not having a real bike, they can keep their real bike!

Since I'm a new bee rider, if somebody wave at me I will not remove my left hand to wave. I will just keep my hand on my left handlebar and just lift my 2 fingers up just like a peace sign. That way I will not accidentally loose control of my bike. I will practice it on my next practice run, unfortunately it's snowing today so I have to wait for the snow to melt. Also, I think why other riders probably don't want to wave at other riders is the fear of losing control of their bikes especially when doing fast speed.

I wave at everyone no matter what they ride. I get mad at the folks who look right at me, don't wave back and don't even give a nod.
Screw you.
Not worth getting mad.
These days I give the two-finger flip most times, i.e. keep my hand on the grip. I'd guess that's most common anyway. If the other guy acknowledges me first, I'll usually do the two fingers down or open hand down in response.
Just don't do a geeky over the handlebar wave.![]()
Here in SE Louisiana I've always heard that a peace sound towards the ground means clear sailing....... however, a peace sign in the air means beware......i.e.. speed traps, road construction etc.
I don't nod or wave, I just scowl real mean like at them. I don't want anybody getting too friendly. Since Hostess filed bankruptcy last week, if people get to close they could find out I have a Twinkie in my saddlebag. It's a crazy world, can't be too careful.

I give a peace sign to any biker... most wave back irregardless of bike type, and those that don't, no biggie. Kharma and being a happy person enjoying the ride.
