Default Oil filter for 1500 Classic Fi

Anybody using the Purolator Pure ONE (PL14610 / PL14612) filter referenced in this previous thread on a 1500 Classic Fi? Or any of the other recommended ones for that matter. I picked up a Pure ONE yesterday (PL14610), but I'm kinda hesitant to use a car filter. But then again it sounds like the best one out there. What do you guys think?

It will be fine Chuck , an It won't hurt a thing. I'm running a Napa gold an on the next go round I'll probably be using the walmart if I can find one. If your like everyone else around here ,your changing your oil enough (3,000 or less) that nothings gonna happen from using an aftermarket filter. No one can prove that the type of oil or filter that they use is any better than what your using right now, or I should say they can't prove that the cheaper filters are hurting your engine or ever will.

Dwaine, the largest WalMart store in the world is located in Mt. Home, Ark. I was there the other day looking for an oil filter for my bike that my local Wally World did not stock. Mt. Home has everything, I picked up 2 of the ST7317 Walmart brand filters for a little over $2 each. They also have the V-Twin Synthetic Mobil 1 in the small motorcycle section of my local Walmart.

Chuck: I use a Purolator Pure ONE (PL14610) on my 2000 Nomad and it works great (it has more surface area than stock-- 3.25" instead of 2.5"). I buy them at PartsAmerica.com for $5.88 each. You can also check out Gadget's web site re: oil filters at: http://www.gadgetjq.com/oilfilters.htm. Good luck!

I just changed my oil the other day and could not find a filter for my bike at Wal-Mart. I used a Wix 51358 instead. I also paid a whopping $9.45 for one filter at my local parts store. I asked the parts guy if he was serious.....He just smiled and said "You want this thing or not?"

Here is a web page you can go over but both those are listed as "what to use".

In talking to a middle management guy at Walmart I asked him why the old smaller store carried the ST7317 filter and his new super Walmart did not. He said that all the stores have a predetermined list of items they are allowed to carry and cannot even order anything not on that list...go figure. I finally had to go to a neighboring town to get the filter and bought all they had...five or six @ $2 each.
Bottom line? Call around to the walmarts in your area to see if they carry the 7317. BTW, some experts show the Purelator as one of the few best filters along with the Walmart brand

I know I get a good discount at my local Kaw dealer...I pay less than that for a Kaw filter for my bikes.
