For me it was an easy choice to go with the 1500. Styling alone did it for me. I walked into the shop and my bike called to me like an all-you-can-eat buffet to a guy on a diet! I went to look at the 1500/1600 and the Honda VTX's. I did look at the others and even went back to the Yamaha place once more to look but it was a done deal as soon as I saw the 1500. As for the brake, I too was concerned about the single disk and still would prefer two. However, two-up riding with a combined weight of over 450lbs. has shown no lack of braking power at the pace I ride. No racer here, not slow either, just an average pace. Quick enough to be a thrill and sedate enough to be enjoyable..........Tim

Welcome welcome Nh & Wf! Really happy to have you guys join us!
What a great thread! Interesting responses! I went with the 1600 cause she is just plain hot lookin to me. The gas tank lines & the massive look of the engine pretty much did it! Now, I can't seem to quit lookin at the 2K? Uh oh!! I really like the 1600 & have no regrets at all. Never even tried a 1500, so I can't compare. Thanks for a good thread!! ![]()

you chop that 46 dodge yet? j/k good to see you on the board. I was a bit leary of that single front brake as well but i've had a few emergency halts in the 16000 or so miles on my 04 1500 and i've always had plenty, but I will also like to add that I don't do too much two up riding so its just me and my girlish figure out on the road.

Arrrrgh! Chop this! Just kidding buddy. No girlish figure here. I don't do much two up either but brakes haven't been an issue when I do. I don't post much but I do lurk around a good bit. Beware..........
