Default Vulcan 1500 Classic Model Designation Help

Well this is my first bike in 25 yrs and I have a dumb question. Exactly which model do I have? I bought a 2005 vulcan 1500 Classic. When I look at purchasing aftermarket parts ( light bar etc ) I see several differant numeral designations N D FI and more. I do know my bike is fuel injected. How do I determine the exact model number? The title is no help.

    Thanks
    Steve

The Kawasaki website seems to indicate 2 specific model numbers for a 2005 Vulcan 1500 Classic, one for California, and one for the other 49 states.
    VN1500N4 (49 State spec.)
    VN1500N4L (California spec.)

Thanks for the quick response. So then I guess I would have a Model N. So what is a FI? I have seen parts that will fit a 2005 1500 Classic but not a FI. Does FI mean fuel injected. I know Dumb questions but when you get old the brain just doesn't work so good LOL

I'm afraid I don't know. I'll move your thread to the Cruiser section, and tweak the thread title a bit and hopefully that may help in getting the right answers.

    Best of luck.

I also have an 05 Classic FI. The FI does mean fuel injected. The only model made in 05 was fuel injected. The Cal model has more of the smog crap. Mine is an N4 so I would guess yours is also. It's silver and black correct?

I keep getting mixed answers on this one. Did they make a Carb and FI model in 2005? I am getting an 05 1500 classic, but my key position is on the frame and all the FI 2005 to 2002's I've seen have the key location up on the tank. I like the tank position better is there a way to move it up there. IE OEM parts to convert and why does my 2005 have it on the frame? I have to go take another look at the bike now to make sure it's FI
2 different websites show the 2005 as FI and the other as CV- Carb???

All the 1500 Classics from 2005 up are FI. All of the 1500 Classics have the ignition switches on the left side frame. The 1600 Nomad and Classic have the ignition switch on the tank. If you saw a 1500 with the switch on the tank, it was moved there by the owner. Thunder Mfg. made a switch for the 1500 that mounted on the tank. A lot of 1500 owners also installed a Harley switch on the tank. There is a Kawasaki switch relocation kit, but it mounts on the left side of the engine.

    Thanks for the info bluestringer.
That does make since now. The only 1500's I looked at were a mean streak which had it on the top and the one I'm buying with it on the side. I did look at them on youtube. Makes since now on the key location.
