Can you take the Goats Belly off without taking the entire exhaust off?
I want to take it to the muffler shop to have the catylist taken out.
thanks.

I don't know if you can remove it without removing at least one of the exhaust pipes. If all you want to do is gut the thing you can buy something called a Dutch Bypass that eliminates it altogether.

hi there, just take the heat shields off the pipes at the muffler shop and show them what you want. They will cut out the goats bag,and make a new Y piece to join both pipes together.your std heat shieds will dictate what shape the Y piece will be,then it must be mated to the std muffler.I had what you are after on my 99 1500 drifter when i bought it 3 yrs back, but have since fitted a set of baggers off a vulcan 1500. i had to make some angle iron brackets to mount the mufflers & use some insulators in between the brackets & muffler. Then i rotated the voltage regulator foward 180deg and notched the outer tin cover to clear,& use 1 longer bolt & 1 spacer to mount it all up. this gives you clearance for the rear cylinder pipe to go under the swingarm & exit down the left side,& the front cylinder goes down the right side.enjoy.wayno 1500 drifter kz900
Just looked at my 02----1500 stock pipes.
clamp between goat belly and the pipes.
Think it may be easier to remove pipes and all.
My stock pipes and goat belly came off in one piece.
you'll have to take the exhaust off to get the GB off. We just put pipes on my wife's 1500 and the stock pipes were pretty difficult to get out of the GB. Once out, the GB is held on by 2 bolts and drops right out. Then you could put the stock pipes back on and easily fabricate a couple short connector pieces to bypass where the GB was.
