    Default Goats Belly 1500 question

I have a question for anyone that has worked on the 1500 stock exhaust.

I am going to take the cat. out of the goats belly.

By looking I think I can take the goats belly off without taking off all the exhaust. Am I correct?

On the gadgets page it looks like the cut into the goats belly is from the bottom side. Am I correct?

Thanks to anyone that can answer my question.

Think you will have to take the rear pipes off, by looking at gadgets page looks like the bottom side under the seam of the belly.

You are going to have to take rear pipes off, but that's the easy part.

I just happen to have a goats belly for sale, as I'm sure other members do if you want one as a reference point.

It will be really difficult to get the GB off without dropping the whole exhaust. The pipes don't just go in straight to where you could wiggle them off. When we replaced the pipes on our 07 I noticed that.

Rather than gutting it, which will require welding and grinding/cutting, you might be better off removing it completely- get some pipe that will connect the front part of the pipe to the back where the GB used to be. You'll still have to drop the whole exhaust for that, but the end result will probably sound better.
Or even better, spend the $$ on a new exhaust and keep the stockers intact hanging on the wall in the garage.

we had looked into modding the stock pipes and decided there were really no options, so we sprung for a Vance and Hines 2:1 Pro Pipe and a couple hours to put it on, and it's much better than anything we could have done to the stock system.

I gutted the gb in my old 1500. Was surprised how little more sound all that work gained.
