Talking finally moved in

i am finally getting settled into our new house. after leaving new jersey in june and going to school at fort knox for a couple of months we have set up camp here in fayetteville nc. haven't been here for 13 some odd years. but as my time in the army winds down wanted to get the family close to home so when i retire we are already close to where we would want to be. took me awhile to get everything unpacked and set up. but i do finally have a garage to work on my bike. even got a swimming pool for my kids in the back yard, and a big enough yard for my dog to run around and get tired. only thing is i still have to go to ga next friday for three weeks. they are gonna teach me how to jump out of a perfectly good airplane.

yea a change of scenery is always good. as with a change of pace. yes, i will be at ft benning for 3 weeks. my wife is still wondering after 13 years in the army why i decided to jump out of planes now. who knows. always sounded fun, plus they pay you extra to do it. hopefully i can find a good mc mechanic down here to help do some work on my final drive/

Sounds like nice digs, especially for the kiddos.

Moving sucks, I know, but glad to hear you're all in and getting settled.

Good move Staff getting where you need to settle down...BUT...I'm not to sure about the jumping out of the airplane thing. Maybe a few years ago I would consider it...but not with my bad back now.

Also...if you can jump out of an airplane...you can do the final drive work on your bike!

when i put the bike in gear which it does fine. but after giving it gas it just revs up and barely moves before stalling itself out. took the little round cap off the bevel gear area and when i spin the the nut in there with the back tire off there is a spot where it just binds and doesnt move freely. so that is why i think it is the final drive. but i am no wrench. so it could be something else also.

DARN!!!

Have you tried putting the bike on a jack to get the rear tire off the ground and then put it in gear and see if the rear wheel will turn?

haven't tried that. i am in the process of lubbing the driveshaft and what not right now. there was no grease in there so that might have been the problem to.

only once...somebody has to do it. and they way i figure it i only have 7 years until i hit 20 years and retire. so why not. something to cure that rush of a sport bike going 175mph. i figure this will relax me.
